The Optical Society Names Pablo Artal the 2019 Edgar D. Tillyer Award Recipient

Researcher honored for pioneering use of optics and photonics to understand human sight, improve eye diagnostics and correction

The Optical Society (OSA) is pleased to name Pablo Artal, Universidad de Murcia, Spain the 2019 Edgar D. Tillyer Award winner. Artal is honored for the pioneering use of optics and photonics technologies to unravel the human visual system and improve eye diagnostics and correction.

“Dr. Artal’s contribution to the study of human eyesight is terrifically important,” said 2019 OSA President Ursula Gibson. “His fundamental research on human vision, which has also led to clinical innovations, is absolutely deserving of Tillyer Award recognition.”

El profesor y director del Laboratorio de Óptica de la Universidad de Murcia es el segundo científico europeo que recibe esta distinción de la Sociedad Americana de Óptica, después de Yves Le Grand (1975).
